Jan Rau is a researcher at the Leibniz-Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut, where he works in the Media Research Methods Lab on the (Social) Media Observatory, part of the Research Institute Social Cohesion. He is also pursuing a PhD at ZeMKI, University of Bremen. He holds an MSc in the Social Sciences of the Internet from the University of Oxford and has worked with Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, GESIS – Leibniz-Institute for the Social Sciences, Princeton University, and the Institute for Strategic Dialogue. His research explores echo chambers and polarization, public opinion manipulation, right-wing populism and extremism, and platform governance.
