The Networks in Contexts Lab brings together researchers and students from sociology, computer science, data science, and information science across the United States from the East Coast (NYU, Cornell, Columbia) to the Midwest (Indiana, U Chicago), to the West Coast (Stanford, UCLA).
We study cultural and interactional dynamics of both online and offline social networks, relying on recent advances in computational text analysis, network analysis, and machine learning. We aim to understand the intricacies of social interactions as they unfold in real time and how they shape and are shaped by broader social contexts, such as political polarization, segregation, and inequality.
